Illinois Unemployment Application

The Department of Employment Security administers the Illinois unemployment insurance program.  Before you fill out an Illinois unemployment application, make sure you’re unemployed, have earned wages in insured employment, and are looking for new work.  Your unemployment position can’t be from anything you did such as quitting your job or being fired.  If you’re eligible for unemployment benefits, you may receive up to 26 weeks of regular unemployment insurance benefits.  This is only during your benefit year.

The first working day after you become unemployed is when you should file a claim.  On the Illinois unemployment application online, you need to give personal information, which includes your Social Security number, your name as it appears on your Social Security card, the Social Security number, date of birth, and names of any dependents.  It’s important that all your gross wages are reported whether it’s from full time or part time work.  You also need to put your employers’ names, mailing addresses, employment dates, and reasons why you’re not working for these employers anymore.  You need to list all your employers from October 01, 2007 to February 20, 2008.

An online application only takes about 30 minutes to finish.  After you complete an online Illinois employment application, your claim will be effective the calendar week in which it was received.  You need to certify benefits about two weeks after you’ve filed your claim in order to be paid.  You’ll be informed by mail when you should call Tele-Serve at 1-888-337-7234.  Tele-Serve has to be called on a bi-weekly basis on a specific call date that is assigned to you.  You can correct or modify information on your Illinois employment application and then click continue so it’s saved.  You can click the cancel button if you want to cancel the application.
